Expansion slot definition

   This is a plastic block that integrates a slot with a special form and with a number of connectors, which allow connection of expansion cards, and thereby raise the enjoyment of greater computer capabilities.

     Two other ways in which they are commonly referred to as the expansion slots are Bus Slot and Slot The word is simply translated from English word slot, while Bus refers to a standard power lines are responsible for transmitting the data

  Basic types of expansion cards

    Depending on each standard, it is possible to classify them as follows:

  • XT slot.

  • ISA slot-8.

  • Slot ISA-16.

  • MCA slot.

  • VESA slot.

  • EISA slot.

  • PCMCIA slot.

  • PCI slot.

  • AGP slot.

  • AMR-CNR Slot

  • PCI-Express slot.

 

   RDRAM memory slots

     To expand the capacity of the memory have the following:

  • RAM slot TSOP type.
  • RAM slot type SIP.
  • Slot type RAM SIMM.
  • Slot DIMM RAM type.
  • Slot DDR RAM.
  • Slot type RIMM RAM.
  • Slot type DDR2 RAM.
  • Slot type DDR3 RAM.

  • Slot SRAM or cache.
